About

She's Not Hardcore. We're Not Hardcore.
But we do believe in ultralight comfort for women, without the gram-counting ego trip
We build outdoor gear for women who get out there and for those who want to.
Hikers. Weekend wanderers. Section trekkers. Outdoor lovers. Even peregrinas on the Camino who just want a backpack that fits and a design that makes sense.
No toothbrush cutting.
No ultralight gatekeeping.
And definitely no mansplaining.
This isn’t about being the lightest pack on the trail. It’s about fit, comfort, and function. Gear that works with women’s bodies. The kind that makes you think, Why didn’t anyone design it this way for us before?
Inspired by the dedication of Search and Rescue teams, especially SAR women, we believe safety and style belong together. Our women’s backpacks feature bright, high-visibility colors and reflective trim, so you’re easier to see when it matters most and still excited to carry your pack.
No two women are the same.
And no two adventures are either.
Your body, your trail, your goals are all uniquely yours.
That’s why Sojurnr designs ultralight, adjustable backpacks made specifically for women, not downsized men’s gear. Because one size, or shape, does not fit all. Whether it’s your third trip or your thirtieth, women deserve better-fitting outdoor gear designed for real bodies and real adventures.
Her trail. Her gear. Her way.
Hi, I'm Jennifer Villamin, Founder

It all started with a pandemic and a need for a better fitting lightweight backpack
I didn’t grow up camping or hiking. As the daughter of immigrant parents, the outdoors just wasn’t part of my life. But during the pandemic, I discovered backpacking. I’ll never forget it. I was on a California mountaintop with friends when the shelter-in-place order was announced in 2020.
Before that, I was a competitive outrigger canoe paddler in San Francisco. When shelter-in-place made paddling in a six-person canoe impossible, a teammate and I turned to hiking and backpacking around California instead.
My very first trip was rough. I had no experience, carried clunky car-camping gear, and wore a pack that didn’t fit. That first night it poured rain and leaked through my ten-year-old tent. But waking up in nature, miles from my car, with a breeze on my face and surrounded by stillness, I felt something change. For the first time, I slowed down and really noticed the world around me. Like, really noticed.
Over the next few years, I went through four different packs. None fit. None worked. All left me in pain. I tried adjusting, repacking, and finding little hacks to manage it. The gear just wasn’t made for my body, and that mattered.
Talking to other women, I realized it wasn’t just me. This was a real problem. As a Filipino American woman, I also noticed how few women of color I saw on the trail. I kept asking myself: Do women of color even go backpacking?
As a first-time outdoor female founder of color, I’m not just navigating trails, I’m navigating an industry long dominated by white men. At Sojurnr, we believe more women on the trails means more diverse representation. And with more representation comes the opportunity to change the narrative around who belongs in the outdoors.

When Unisex Options Won't Fit
There is a gap in outdoor gear. Women are underrepresented, and most gear doesn’t fit female bodies.
At Sojurnr, we make gear that fits. When women have properly fitting packs, they will be more empowered to explore, and to push, their limits in the outdoors.
The outdoor industry needs a sustainable brand focused on better-fitting gear for women to make the outdoors more inclusive and accessible.
While the outdoor industry may not reflect us just yet, we are here, and we are changing the narrative.
